YUMMY Fruit Roll-Up Treats! :: Banana Pear

Here is a fun thing to do on a rainy day - make homemade fruit leathers! Remember those good old Fruit Roll-Ups from when we were kids? Here's a DIY version. Of course you'll need one of the wonderful dehydrator machines, but I assume some of you have these. If not, skip this fun recipe.

What you'll need:

Teflex Sheets
3 Very Ripe Bananas
4 Very Ripe Pears
1 Large Scoop Protein Powder
Water {optional - use a tiny bit to get the blender going if necessary}

To make the fruit roll ups, first wash and then blend the fruit in the blender until VERY VERY smooth/homogenous. I left the skin on the pears to ensure you get all the fiber and vitamins/minerals. Add the protein powder.

Pour the mixture onto the Teflex sheet. Then gently bang the trays on the counter or move the mixture around by moving the dehydrator tray around until you get a very thin, pancake type circle.

Dehydrate overnight {12-14 hours} at 105-110F until done {the roll-ups are done when they are no longer wet and stick together.

Have fun. A HEALTHY, raw food remake of the original. PLEASE notice a difference in the ingredients that the original General Mills version contains:

Fruit Juice from concentrate {apple & pear}
Corn Syrup
Dried Corn Syrup
Partially Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil
Modified Corn Starch
Fruit Pectin
Citric Acid
Sodium Citrate
Color {red 40, blue 1, yellow 5 and other color added}
Malic Acid
Potassium Citrate
Vit C
Mineral Oil
Natural Flavor
Carnauba Wax
Bees Wax

note: might be worth it investing in a dehydrator after reading those ingredients. Kind of scary. ;)
