Meredith Works, Wines & Dines Through CALI

Really no secret that I am a California girl at heart. It isn't like I sit around pining to be there (Maine is INCREDIBLE in the summer) but... when I'm in Cali, I am IN LOVE.

I love the weather, vibe, and style. It also fits my lifestyle perfectly. Avocados? Hello!

There is never a trip to California that doesn't leave me feeling super inspired- which is why I am super excited about our new business out there.

Thats right! Matthew Kenney Cuisine is coming to Santa Monica in a big way. A restaurant, culinary school and juice bar will just be a small part of the coolness.  I can't be too much of a spoiler, so for now, stay up to speed on our Facebook page.

What was I up to while I was out there?

Well, my trip to LA was mostly business, but I did get to hit the Santa Monica Farmers market- always a plethora of amazing food. Look a the artichokes!

Made an adventure to Erewhon Market- their Juice and Tonic Bar is just crazy good. Everyone looks like they are sucking on the fountain of youth. Only in West Hollywood are people wearing Louboutin's to get juice.

I had a Kefir Margarita which was insane... Coconut Kefir, Tocotrienols, Lime Juice, Udos Oil, water, salt and stevia... SO GOOD.

My nights were pretty tame, and  the trip was brief, so I didn't do much more than get a juice buzz on and do lots of market research {wink}!

After LA I went to spend one night in SF with one of my best friends Simone. I don't have any pictures, but we ate at Dosa - if you love good Indian Food, but like it a bit fresher, the  place is awesome. Super Gluten Free friendly too!

The next morning we bought juice from a cute and tiny juice place called Juice Shop on Union Street. It is adorable!

Then we drove to Napa. I have good friends there- and my sister and her boyfriend joined us from Portland, OR.  It was delightful as usual. Amazing food, great wine, good company and spectacular views. Paradise.

When I'm in Napa I love going to the Oxbow Market. You might remember Juli talking about this OXBOW place being her FAVORITE Napa breakfast stop as well. They have done so much with the space since I lived there- they've even added a juice bar. One A.M. juice, Ritual Roasters coffee and a gluten free corn and mango scone was on the menu for me.

On the less edible side I did also see some great restaurant design, cool art, and of course beautiful landscape!

Last but not least my dear friend Cathy Buck, owns the only single show cinema in the country- the Cameo Cinema. The Cameo is coming up on its centennial year- so they are already starting to celebrate. I went to her event Jolson and Jazz under the Stars at the beautiful Castello di Amorosa.... breathtaking!

I'll leave the California trip on a blissed out note and skip the crappy details. (Ok, brand new computer was stolen)

Oh well! Was it worth it? Absolutely. :-)
